Sophia

Hello Harriett,  just wanted to check in with you to let you know I am so spoiled and my dads are the best ever. I am so glad you saved me, so they could find me.  I am very happy and loved.  I have my own fur blanket that I snuggle with.  Thanks again for all that you do, for dogs that need a good home.

Sophia!!

Augie (Camilla)

Harriett,

I think you do great work and want to support you.  I'm one of Augie's (formerly known as Camilla) moms.  We are so happy to have her in our lives.  She's a great dog.  I am so glad that you and your group were there to rescue her. Keep doing what you do.  Warm regards,

Jo

Roxie

Hi Harriett:

I adopted my beloved dog through you in February.  Roxie -- a little boxer mix. I just wanted to give you an update on her and let you know how much we love this little girl.  She is spoiled rotten!!  She underwent heartworm treatment and was tested a few months ago -- it was confirmed that she is heartworm free! I have attached a picture.

Thanks again!

Charlie

Hi Harriett!

I wanted to say thank you for rescuing Charlie (Ladybug) and taking a chance and sending her home with me a year ago!! We've stopped by and visited you several times and we wanted to stop by one more time, but we ran out of time. I just wanted to let you know about some exciting news! I got a job in Boulder, CO and Charlie and I are buying some winter coats / doggie snow boots and moving out there!! The best part is that I'm working at a dog-friendly office, so Charlie can come to work with me every day!! And there are lots of other dogs there so I am confident that she will be very happy :) She is just the cutest, sweetest, most well behaved, spunky dog I've ever met and I'm excited for us to go on this next big adventure! She's my girl and I honestly don't know what I would do without her! Thank you SO much again!! SHE IS THE BEST THING THATS EVER HAPPENED TO ME or the world for that matter!!

Beauregard

Hello Harriett.

We spoke for a few minutes yesterday at the Pet Supplies Plus adoption site.  I want to thank you again for your amazing mission and legacy.  We're just one family who benefited from your care and concern.  Beau was just one dog of so many who went on to live good lives.  Beau was cherished from  the moment he and I locked eyes at Ansley Mall.  You had saved and extended his life when you treated him for heartworms and kept him safe until his forever home became available.  He died last Thanksgiving Day in my arms and our son Randy's here at our home in Atlanta, and rests in our garden.  After Randy's major left brain stroke nearly three years ago, Beau gave him a reason to get up each day and to recover as much as he has.  We will never forget Beau.

Our dear VCA Buckhead Veterinary Hospital  doctors and staff helped to extend Beau's life, but he left far too soon--perhaps from heart damage or inherited health problems.  In the end it was organ failure that took him--heart and lungs and liver.  I'm attaching two pictures.  One is from 2006 at his adoption, and the second is from the month before he died--in one of his favorite places at Lake Burton.  I think the image with the beauty of fall foliage is magical.

I'll send a check now and then in Beau's memory.  I mentioned that we adopted a black Lab puppy in the spring.  Woody is now nearly 9 months old and a handsome fellow of 55 lbs.  He's keeping us busy trying to keep him out of danger and also safeguard the many items he is not supposed to chew.  His twin brother Jake, with whom he was discarded in Gwinnett County, was adopted by another of our sons, Greg.  The two pups get to visit and swim together often.  The Gwinnett chapter of the Georgia Society of Humane Friends saved both dogs--even through parvovirus.  Greg lives in Gwinnett.

Always our thanks and love,
Barbara (and Dale) Ray

Penny

Hi Harriett-

I adopted Trina (now Penny) back in April. I want to tell you how much she has changed my life. She is the best dog I could have asked for. I love her dearly and so does everyone that comes into contact with her. I grew up with a dachshund and we lost him in June, unfortunately. She sat by him on his very last day and showed such compassion. She has found her way into both my parents' and sister's hearts, as well. She actually spent two weeks with them away from me while I was on vacation. She shows them such love, it is unbelievable! She lights up when they come to visit and jumps into bed with them, too. Penny loves my cousin's girls, too. She enjoys playing tug-of-war with them, too. I can't thank you enough for rescuing my baby. I couldn't imagine my life without her!!

I am attaching a few pictures for you to see how happy she truly is now!

Best-
Cari

Daphne (Audrey)

Hello,

Just wanted to let you know that she is doing great! She is healthy and happy and an absolute joy. She loves going to for long walks or running around the yard, then having a nice long nap. She is taking obedience classes and is a very quick learner! She loves toys.

She gets along just fine with our 3 cats. Thanks so much for bringing her into our lives! We're very grateful.

Winnie

Hi Harriett,

We hope that you are doing well.  We just wanted to say hi and let you know that Winnie is still alive and kicking, she is happy and loves chasing squirrels.  Thank you for giving so much to these sweet furry souls that are often considered throw-aways; you are appreciated.

I built them this "dog fort" to lay on and get sun while watching the birds.

Lilly Ann

Harriett,

One Sunday afternoon in December 2009 I found your website while looking to adopt a new dog. It was this day that I came across a picture of the most adorable thing I have ever seen.

I instantly texted my then girlfriend Candice a picture of 'Lily' and feverishly called her. "I'm in love and we have to adopt her!" I nervously waited until Monday morning and called you inquiring about her.  She wasn't quite old enough to adopt and was getting spayed that week. We discussed the process and I began an anxious week praying she would still be available the following weekend. Luckily for us, she was.

We arrived at Pet Supermarket to see Lily laying over top of her brother Max.  An adorable and heart-melting sight, it didn't take us long to see that Lily was protecting her brother.

We moved fast in adopting her and our lives would never be the same.  We've moved a few times, getting (now Lilly Ann) a big yard and plenty of sidewalks to take walks, gotten and changed jobs, and gotten married. Through all this time, the one constant was Lilly's unyielding love and protective nature. There's not a day that goes by that we are not thankful that we found Ruffus Rescue. Thank you so much for all your hard work and love for finding these wonderful animals loving homes!

Lyla

Hi Harriett,

Just wanted to donate because my fiance and I adopted a dog from you a little over a year ago. We have named her Lyla, but her name is formerly Priscilla. We love her and it's amazing to see how comfortable she's gotten with us and how much more outgoing she's gotten with people and other dogs! Just wanted to give back since we are so grateful for her and what you are doing with Ruffus Rescue.

Annie

We adopted a border collie from you on May 28,2009. She is a female border collie and you named her Ginny.  We changed that name to Little Orphan Annie - Annie for short.  She has developed into a most beautiful lady -- obedient lady, greatly attached at the hip with us.  It took over 1-1/2 years to have her trust us completely.  She is the love of our life.

She always wants to play - day or night.  Walks beside me on her leash, so lady-like.  She is the love of our neighbors. She loves people, which is amazing after all she has been through. We are very beholden to you for adopting her to us. She is now 8 years old and we would love for you to meet again so she can  see once again the wonderful woman who let us have her.

Hope you are in  good health.

Harry

Harry has been the most wonderful precious addition to our family! We could not imagine a day without him.  Harriett at Rufus Rescue knows how to treat these special animals & prepares them for their next home. God Bless her and all those that help her with this process.  He truly is our Prince Harry!

Tina Cooney

Harley a/k/a Lucas

Absolute love bug.  Wish I could have ten more.  He has brought plenty of joy to the house. He does love to chew things up. New toys last about a day. But he's a really good boy. Many thanks for saving him and letting him into our hearts
